Welcome

Sports Medicine Australia (SMA) is Australia's peak authority on all issues relating to sports medicine, sport science and exercise for the physically active.

Sports Medicine Australia (NSW Branch) is committed to educating the NSW sport and recreation industry in the prevention, management and rehabilitation of sporting injuries in order to make sport safer for all participants at all levels of competition.

Join SMA

Sports Medicine Australia is the sum of its members. SMA members are the reason Australia is regarded by the rest of the world as the leader in sports medicine. SMA members come from all walks of life - from pre-eminent academics and practitioners to sports trainer members who help make sure that everyone playing sport is playing safely. SMA members are literally the ‘team behind the teams.’

Newsflash

The Level 1 Sports Trainer course recognises participants as a nationally accredited Sports Trainer, providing skills on how to prevent and manage injuries on and off the sporting field. The 16 hour course is designed to introduce participants to the basic knowledge and skills required by a Sports Trainer. These skills include management of specific sporting injuries, warm up, stretching and cool downs, nutrition, taping and trasporting the injured athlete.
